How Community Land Trust (CLT) Works

Thistle acquires and builds affordable homes and limits the sales price on these homes. Thistle, through the CLT, owns the land, and qualified people buy the homes. Thistle and the homebuyer sign a 99-year renewable land lease which allows the buyer to use the land.  Click for detailed CLT homeownership information.

NOTE: Thistle accepts applications ONLY when we have a Community Land Trust home or a Mapleton mobile home available for sale.

We also encourage you to apply directly to the City of Boulder. The City of Boulder can forward your application to Thistle at your request when Thistle has a CLT home available for sale.

For information on permanently affordable homes for sale from the City of Boulder, visit The City of Boulder Division of Housing.
