Thistle closed on refinancing for the “Renova V Properties” (Parkville, Sage Court, English Village, Laguna, and Terry Street) on November 11, 2019. Estimated completion is the end of 2020.
Thistle refinanced the “Corwood Properties” (Correll, Pinewood, and Valmont) on September 30, 2017. The buildings date from 1948, 1957, 1964 and 1983. They were antiquated and in need of modernization due to their age. The total budget was $27M, the project began on Oct. 23, 2017, and concluded September 30, 2019.
Thistle invested $27M to remodel 80 apartments in three different Boulder communities owned by Thistle: Correll Apartments (21 units), Pinewood Apartments (23 units) and Valmont Square (36 units). Thistle worked with PEH Architects to achieve meaningful improvements to the building envelope, systems, and livability to preserve these apartments for the long term.
Thistle broke ground on two acres and construction began to build 36 apartments and a community room for artists at The Bus Stop Apartments in North Boulder.
Thistle purchased land in Boulder for 70 homes, including five unique live-work condos at Velo Condos in December. Fourteen of the homes are permanently affordable.
Thistle became a ROC Certified Technical Assistance Provider and began actively seeking Mobile Home Communities in Colorado to transition from private ownership to resident-owned communities.
Thistle’s rebranding effort defined our core values as Positive, Professional, Authentic, Diverse and Inclusive. In late summer we combined four offices into one centrally located office in Gunbarrel, improving customer service, staff communication and efficiency. Thistle established partnerships with Naropa University, Attention Homes, Open Studios, Human Services Alliance and in partnership with the Koelbel Company and Allison Management, Thistle added 69 units at Lumine at 28th in Boulder. In partnership with Koelbel Company and Allison Management, Thistle added 61 units at Ledges at 29th in Boulder. In Longmont, Thistle purchased 1200 Kimbark, a 48-unit complex of two- and three-bedroom units in Longmont. After being certified in the Crime Free program, police calls were reduced from 10 per month to three, according to the Longmont Police Department. Thistle and Allison Management accepted the Jack Kemp Award from the Urban Land Institute for Yarmouth Way due to the innovative partnership, replicability and financing without public subsidy. t 1000 Rosewood in north Boulder, construction of the neighborhood was completed, adding nine affordable ownership homes to the City of Boulder’s Deed Restricted program.
